"The Case for Sustainability" Project -- Call for Submissions

Earlier this year, I announced the "Case for Sustainability" project part of a fellowship at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business: a book of short case studies focusing on the intersection of business, the environment, and innovation. I'm pleased to announce that we have just issued the request for submissions for case studies for this project.

As the official document puts it:

To the greatest extent possible, the case studies selected for this project will be those appropriate for use not just in elective business courses (focusing on ethics, environmental topics, and social responsibility, for example) but also in core curriculum courses (on management, strategy, marketing, finance, operations, etc.). As such, a key goal is to demonstrate how companies and other organizations are harnessing sustainability as a driver of innovation in a manner that enhances their performance from a long-term financial standpoint, not just as an add-on exercise with little discernable value. The ultimate objective is to create relevant educational materials for use in academic degree programs, executive education programs, and within businesses and other interested organizations._

The project will yield a book of 20-25 such cases along with teaching notes (for professors) and "takeaways" (for professionals).

If you are interested in participating, you can submit ideas for cases online. Deadline for submissions is June 30, 2006.
